VPN Fails With 721 Error

Hello,

We are running RRAS on our 2003 server with NAT and no firewall. Port
1723 is forwarding and Protocol 47 is being passed through. What is
driving me crazy is that users can ALWAYS authenticate, but sometimes
its on the first try or sometimes it takes three tries. The error is
721 on the failed attempts. There are no firewalls on the client
pc's. Also, we are not using the remote access policy (users and
computers is set to 'always allow' remote access).

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Hi Tim,

Does the router have PPTP enabled? Also have you check the DHCP settings on
the RAS server side. Disable DHCP service on the router (if you use port
forwarding, you must turn off DHCP service)
