VPN error 721

Hi, if someone could offer some advice on this it would be great:

I'm running XP Pro SP2. I have a Netgear WGT624 Wireless Router. When
trying to VPN into my work I receive "Error 721: The remote computer is
not responding."

I've opened all the necessary ports for VPN, etc, but still encounter
the problem. In fact, I've even tried turning off Windows Firewall and
disabling the router's SPI Firewall to still receive the same error.
If I bypass the router altogether and connect directly to the modem,
all is fine.

Any ideas? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Update you router firmware to the latest and retry without opening any
ports. You should be able to connect if you are able to get on the internet.
