VPN Connection or File Sharing

This is a follow-up on my previous question regarding making a remote
connection to my home network via VPN to access my files and my faxes. On my
previous question it was suggested that I just do file sharing.

My problem is when I am on a different location, my laptop's ip address
range changes. How van I make it static so I can add such ip on my router as
trusted ip.

Thanks,

Mike

Via what? VPN? I'd hope so. I don't see your previous post - but it's best
to keep everything in the same thread so everyone can follow along....

The IP of your laptop won't matter, presuming you mean that you want to use
your laptop to connect to a computer on your home network across the
Internet. If your computer at home has a dynamic private IP, change it to a
static one. You may need to see www.dyndns.org or similar to find out what
your router's public IP is at home, if you're on a dynamic IP with your ISP.
