VPN communication error.

I am having problems with my VPN connection that i am trying to create.
I am connecting to a computer at my office, or vise versa. Both computers
are xp pro, cable, and I set up both an incoming connection and an outgoing
connection. When i connect to the one at work, i get through to the point
where it says registering computer... but i get a 733 error. Going the other
way, i can't get past the username and password. I can remotely connect
either way just fine though. Can some one give me some tips please.
thanx in advance

Check with your ISP the cable modems support PPTP pass-thru. If you got the
routers check their capability and setup as well. Ensure both private
networks are different, e.g. one is 192.168.1 and another is 192.168.2.

I have no router in the office, but at home i have a d-link dl-604. My isp
modem definately accepts it. On my router, i am using DMZ for my computer, so
it should pass through anyway right? I think it might be a problem with a
config setting, but i don't no where to start for troubleshooting it. I doubt
it is my router.

I believe the home and office setups are the same, and the router can be a
problem while you get different errors on the client sides. Exclude the
router from the network temporarily. If VPN would work, then update the
router firmware if you haven't done it yet.

I had to update the firmware on my DI-604 to the latest version before it
would work.
