Vista

Just a few comments.
Now that I have installed the most irritating program in the world. I don't
know whether to throw this stupid computer out the window in frustrations of
the freezing, the ever annoying problem of always having to hit control when
I need to open a link, or the mere fact that we bought vista online for our
network and it doesn't work so we had to buy four separate vistas costing us
over a thousand dollars to just get frustrated. All in all. Vista sucks! And
Mac is looking so much more prettier. If someone could please email me their
email address so I can add them to Messanger so I can solve this ridiculous
problem that would be ohhhh so wonderful. I am going to go hang myself now .

It sounds like you need to work with your IE settings.

BTW - throwing computers out of windows, down steps, etc, generally violates
the warranty and rarely ever fixes the problem.

And lastly - NEVER post your email address unmunged unless you enjoy spam.

Just so you know, Vista is an operating system, not a program. Are you sure
you know what you're doing?

Well to me its an operating system. So I am not technical, why the hell do
you think I am in here. And Do I know what I am doing on what. Right now I
am sitting here reading your dumbass remarks. So no I don't know what I am
doing. I came here for help and the only sensible person that answered was
Joann which I thank her. And I don't care about spam. That is the reason
why I use that email address and not my office one. So I will check my IE
thankyou.

Ummm.... Blonde Erotica? Do you really expect her (??) to know what
she's doing? Other than harvesting email addresses?

Love your nickname! Before you install any new OS, you should make a
complete
backup of your system. Did you do that? If so, you can reload XP and
forget about
Vista. Look how long its taken XP to get as stable as it is today! Vista,
being a more
complex piece of software (and yes, it IS a program no matter what anyone
else tells you!)
will take even longer to get all the kinks out. If XP works for you, keep
it. Also,
did you upgrade all your systems at once or did you do the prudent thing and
load it on a
pilot system to make sure it was going to work for you before installing it
network-wide?
With computers, there's no such thing as being TOO cautious!

An OS *IS* a program (actually a suite of programs)! It's a system program
not an application program but still, it is a program.

Normally I'm the one who gets my fingers smacked for the occasional smarta$$
response. And I'm in an exceptionally crappy mood today but I still behaved.

Try the settings and see what you have. I'm 90% that's where the issues are.

You should know that if you post in a technical forum with a nickname
like "Blonde Erotica" you will get that type of comment.

Did you upgrade over the the top of XP or install a fresh install?
If you write here what the problems are exactly, maybe we can help?
Did you run the upgrade advisor before installing & if so, were there any
issues?
ie do you know that all your hardware/software is vista friendly?

ps I think you'll find that most people here won't get involved in offering
help via email. We prefer to keep it in the group so all can benefit from
it.
Also, I am in the UK so we might not even be awake at the same time :)

Gary has a point. When you are creating screen names, you really need to
think about the image it projects. Readers don't know you personally so they
can only create an impression based on that one item. Is it fair? Probably
not, but we all do it.

I upgraded right over top of XP professional. When I reboot, it works for
about two minutes no matter what I am on, whether it be a program or the net,
then it freezes the mouse. The system doesn't freeze because I still can Alt
everything but it freezes the mouse. And we would be awake at the same time,
I have newborn twins. Trust me I am up at all hours. Thankyou for being
nice :) Also to Tom,

I would check with the manufacture of the mouse to see if there are new
drivers that are made for Vista.

More than likely, it's not the mouse drivers but the mouse applications that
are working in conjunction with your mouse.

If it is a Microsoft mouse, here is the URL for the latest IntelliPoint
Software for Vista:

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/windowsvista/support.mspx

If it is a Logitech mouse, here is the URL for the latest Logitech Software
for Vista:

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downloads/finder/US/EN,crid=270,categoryid=126

Hope this helps!

Kind Regards,

I have to say I prefer clean installs to upgrades.
Interesting that the system seems to be doing this at the same time though.
Look in Event Viewer to see if there are any errors around 2 minutes after
boot (Control Panel/Admin Tools/Event Viewer). Look in Windows Logs -
Applications & System.
Also try this - After boot open Task Manager (Right click task bar, choose
Task Manager) & look at the processes tab. I would click the option to view
processes from all users.
Wait for it to freeze & see if any process is maxing out the CPU or seems to
be growing in memory usage.
When viewing, make sure you maximise the task manager window so you can see
all the processes.

My best guess is that something is starting up that vista doesn't like
causing the hangup. Finding what that is, is a process of elimination.
If you don't see any clues in Task Manager, start in safe mode which is a
basic windows environment with no 3rd party drivers loading, no networking
etc (press F8 at boot - choose safe mode) & see if it freezes. If it
doesn't, you just need to find out what it is.

If you have printers, scanners, external equipment attatched, remove them
one by one & restart to see if still freezes.

If this doesn't point to anything it's probab;y software loading in which
case you'll need to look at what is loading & startup & disable them one by
one. You can do that via Windows Defender/Tools/Software Explorer.

Hope this helps.

Well, if you're going to hang yourself now, I guess there's not much sense
in taking the time to help troubleshoot your problem ... is there? :-(
