Whats up with VISTA?

G

Guest

i got a new PC 2 weeks ago and have had nothing but problems with vista. It
doesnt feel finished nor does it feel worth the price tag.

Can anyone let me know if they are having similar probs.

I get random freezing, in which i need to restart my pc. Sometimes when
playing games, using the internet, and even just clicking the start icon on
windoes desktop. and cntl alt del doesnt work... And sometimes when i go to
restart my pc, it doesnt load and i have to do it again. (sometimes up to 5
times!)

Also, numerous games crash and freeze. I know this is due to numerous
things, not just vista, so i can let this one slide (just).

Please let me know if you can help with these issues, and if in vistas
current state they are a common thing.

thanks

I would take the computer back to the store and insist on XP or my money
back.

No one can REALLY help. Vista is a piece of junk at the moment. Upgrade
to XP if you can.

This is certainly not normal behaviour.

Take the machine back to the store and demand that they
repair it of give you a full refund. DO IT NOW !

if new take it back

if you upgraded from an XP box that was stable its a vista problem, you
should not upgrade to vista if all is well with XP

don't fix what isn't broke

There is a big chance that you're problems are generated by faulty hardware
and not by Windows Vista.
You should have somebody check the health of your system components before
you say "Vista is junk" and you throw it away.

You might have the same issues with XP or Linux.

At some point I had a similar problem with my system and it was generated by
a faulty memory module.

One of the nice things about Windows Vista is that you can make some
troubleshooting without being a specialist.
Make a test with Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool and see what it tells you.

Check out this guide for more information:

I have been running Vista on various system configs as well as VMs with no
such problems whatsoever since RC1. That is a hardware issue or a really bad
OEM image that your manufacturer used on it... Complain, but give Vista a
fair chance before determining it's junk.

I am sorry you are having problems.

Me, I have been using Vista Ultimate x64 since the launch date back on Jan
30.

It gave me some problems with the graphics card drivers, some software
programs that won't run in 64 bit mode, and having me buy some more memory.

I would say mine doesn't freeze. But when I shut down sometimes with those
bad graphics card drivers, it would just stop and take about 1 hour just to
shut down, unless you press the power button for 10 secs.

You may have some bad programs that are causing you problems, and you may
have some bad drivers. Look in to those programs and drivers for some updates
to them.

Yeap, I agree about complain, but give Vista a fair chance.

Just like when I upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP Home. It was my
first upgrade of an operating system and I was scared I would get it wrong.
Because I upgraded over the top of (what most people call) the buggiest OS in
Microsoft history, I had major problems with XP, just like 'Liljase' is
probably having. I did a clean install of XP and never had problems, those
problems again. I still had some problems because the computer could barely
handle XP.

When I upgrade to vista, I did a clean install of the 32bit version just to
see what would happen. Then I clean installed the 64bit version on the same
system, and haven't gone back to 32bit Vista or 32bit Windows XP since.

Interesting. So you're saying that the start menu freezes your computer?
I'm pretty sure that got tested during the beta :) Something is VERY WRONG
with your hardware or drivers.

Care to fill us in on the details of this new machine? At the very least we
should all be wary of this manufacture.

It isn't finished until the fat Ballmer sings. You should return that piece
of shit and install Ubuntu. You'll save a ton of money and have a real
operating system for your computer.

Love and Kisses,

Just want to put in my 2 bobs worth on this post.
Over the years even back as far as Windows for Workgroups I have encountered
machines that have had the operating system installed by a shop/dealer. Now
usually they don't spend the time to really set up each computer as per its
hardware etc. I have found that doing a complete gut and clean myself has 99%
of the time solved the problem. I know that if you are new to computers this
can be pretty daunting for you, but as suggested you can always go back to
the shop and get them to sort it out. By doing this you will find out very
quickly what the after sales service is like at the shop you purchased the
computer.

I hope that this has been of some help to you?

I would take the computer back to the store. And if they can't get it to
work with Vista, get your money back and/or explore the possibility of them
selling you a machine with XP.
And I say this as a dedicated Vista user who has had virtually no problems
with it.

If the people that "tested" the beta actually knew what they were
doing half the things you see reported here would have been caught.
Say, weren't you one of these beta testers Justin?

ROTFLMAO!

Yup, and we squashed thousands of bugs. What exactly was your bonehead
point?

From your description, the problem may well be with hardware rather than
XP vs Vista. If that is the case then definitely return the PC since
the hardware should be intact on the purchase of a new computer.

You couldn't squash a ant at a ant hill. If it wasn't for your Walter
Mitty delusions where you constantly pretend to be a world class
authority on everything your entertainment value would be nada.

Since you never learn and seem blind to reality, you do manage to
cause most to laugh when you try to pontificate.

You had no point, that's exactly what I thought.
