To whom it may concern:
I ordered the ASUS | F3JP-AP035C-A RTL notebook, running vista, on March
7th, 2007.
Up until recently it had performed soundly, but a few days ago, it was
unable to boot properly and has been inoperable. The laptop starts, showing
the ASUS logo and making the noise, but then goes to a page that informs me
that it was previously powered down incorrectly, giving me two options: to
boot normally or to have windows fix whatever has gone wrong.
When I click the fixing mode, however, it returns to the screen that gives
me the options, giving me only the option of booting normally. When booted
normally, the computer shows me a status bar with green marks on it and
"copyright Microsoft Corporation." After this shows, the computers screen
goes black (the LCD stays on), and the computer makes loud whirring noises
for a few seconds then goes to it's normal operating noise, a light whirring.
Nothing occurs after this point, and I am forced to manually shut down the
computer by holding down the power key for a few seconds. I received no
operating system disc with my computer, and am unable to install any older
operating systems: I tried putting in a Windows XP SP2 disc, but the computer
started with the same menu and had the same results.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what can be done to fix this?
