Vista Upgrade Lost Personal Files

B

Brenda

I just upgraded from Vista Home Basic to Vista Home Premium, and selected
"upgrade," NOT clean install. However, all the files from the My Pictures
folder are completely gone. I can't find them anywhere on the system. My hard
drive capacity looks about the same from before I installed, so I am assuming
I haven't lost everything. I don't have a "windows.old" file. Any tips for
how I can try to get my files back?

Nope, the only user profile is the same one I was using prior to the upgrade
and am using now.

Thanks though.

do a search of the hdd to see if any of the pictures are found. Hopefully
you remember at least one of the pictures actual filename. If you find one,
the rest should be in the same folder.

Brenda,

Just to clarify there is no such folder used anymore in Vista called "My
Pictures" except for backward comparability. It is now simply called
Pictures. Open Explorer and look under C:\Users\YourName\Pictures and see if
they are there.
