Hello,

first of all, I'm from Germany so please don't look at my bad school english
:)

My son got a new PC for X-Mas:
Acer Extensa E420
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium, AMD Athlon64 X2 4850e Dual Core
(2,5GHz), 2x1GB DDR2 RAM, 320GB S-ATA II, ATI HD3450 (256MB), DVD-RW,
Card-Reader

From the first start I have the problem that the PC starts, you see the Acer
logo than the green start beam "Microsoft Corp." and
than the screen stays black, I din't hear the vantilator and the hard disk
starting. After a restart somtimes vista starts normal, somtimes it comes
again the black screen and somtimes it comes a screen to chose a vista
rebuilt or a vista normal start.

I have two graphic cards in the PC, ATI 3200 onboard and a ATI 3450 extra,
both are to see in the Hardware of Vista and both are
working fine if the PC starts normaly.

Could this both cards be the problem? Do I have to "disable" the onboard
card in my BIOS? Could it be a problem of the soundcard.

Dose anyone know this problem. If I search for similar problems in the www I
often find it but these people tell they still see the mouse
at the black screen, but I didn't have a mouse .... just a black screen ...
and I must start somtimes three or four time to get a vista start. After a
logi in the PC works perfect .....

Any ideas?

Best regards
Christian

Your English is excellent and very impressive. If the computer came
configured that way (with the two video cards) from the factory and you've
had issues from the beginning, take it back to where you bought it for a
replacement. Your description of the issues sounds like hardware failure(s)
to me. If the computer only came with the *one* onboard video card, remove
the one you added and see what happens.

The computer is under warranty so exercise it! I know it's a PITA to deal
with tech support, etc. but don't wait.

Dear Malke,
thank you for the compliment :)

Yes, the computer came with both video cards installed
and my broblem began with the first start of the PC at 12/24/2008.
I called my dealer and he will take the PC back
if I didn't get a positiv e-mail support from Acer, but I fear
they can't solve my problems.
I'm still waiting for an answer from the Acer support team,
after this answer I take my decision, but I'm sure to change
the PC into a new (hopefull) better running system ....

Best wishes for a happy new Year 2009

There will be no answer from Acer that will be useful. ;-) Take the computer
back to the dealer and get another one.

And best wishes for a joyous New Year to you and yours, too.

Prosit Neujahr!

Your English is definitely good enough for you to express yourself and be
understood! No need to apologize! :)
