Vista Search: how do I "find" the text that I am looking for in thePreview Pane

I know how to display the Preview Pane in Vista Search, but I can't
see how to find the search results within the Preview Pane. When I use
Windows Desktop Search under Windows XP, if a PDF file is shown in the
Preview Pane, then a "Find" box is displayed within the pane. For
other file types there is a drop-down menu near the top right corner
of the WDS window which includes a "Find ..." option. However, I can't
see any equivalent Find options in Vista.

Obviously, I can open each of the search result files in turn, each in
its host program, and look for the text there, but this is rather
laborious. Is there a better way?

You can try an Advanced Search with Documents to see if you can find

the specific text.

Thanks for your reply.

So far as I can see Advanced Search produces exactly the same result
as an ordinary search (for my test search which is looking for a
specific word which I know to be included within certain PDF, DOC and
RTF files, all of which are in an indexed location.)

Both the Advanced Search and the ordinary Search produce a list of the
files which contain the text. What I assume I should then be able to
do is open the Preview Pane and locate the word that I am looking for
within the Preview Pane. My problem is that I can't see how to "Find"
within the Preview Pane.

OK, vistax64.com is now responding.

I've followed Step 1.("Check Show preview handlers in preview pane.")
In fact, this was already checked.

Previews appear for relevant document types (HTM, RTF, PDF, etc.), but
my problem is that I can see no way of getting the preview to scroll
to, and highlight, instances of the word that I'm searching for.

Any further suggestions, please?

in to display previews of PDF files whereas Vista uses a simplified
display. Since the IE plug-in includes a "Find" box, I can find
instances of the word I'm searching for in the Preview Pane in WDS.
My question is: how do I do the same in Vista Search? The preview of a
PDF in Vista Search only seems to include buttons to page forwards and
backwards and to toggle the page size, and the right-click menu only
brings up options to move between pages and to rotate the display.

I have the same question - how do do see the test you've searched on
highlighted in the preview pane? This is basic functionality in most search
software, without it preview is pretyy useless
