Vista never installing

I'd been thinking about upgrading to Vista for some time now and I finally
went out and got a copy (Ultimate, of course). However, it doesn't seem to
be a very good investment seing as how so far I haven't been able to install
it. Here's the scoop so far:

I decided that a fresh start was the best approach and loaded Vista's setup
from boot-up and formated one of my harddrives. I set Vista to install there
and let it do its thing. After a while, I come back and see that while in
the final step, (and from what I could guess, it's first attempt to actually
load Vista) I was treated with the glorious Blue Screen of Death. Lovely!

After decided that it could have simply been a fluke, I re-reformated the
harddrive and started a clean install again. However, with luck deciding to
leave me, I once again was given the BSD.

So at this point, I'm kinda peeved. I decide to reinstall XP Pro and update
all my drivers and Windows update files to bring the system to a good,
normal, clean working order. Now with this at hand, I try to perform an
upgrade installation. This time it goes to a certain part and decides that
all of a sudden, my computer isn't ready for Vista and reverts back to my XP
installation.

Finally I decide to play it simple. I re-re-reformate my harddrive and
re-reinstalle XP and as soon as it's done installing, attempt to install
Vista on top. Sadly, once again it quits halfway and tells me that my
computer can't upgrade.

What's most puzzling to me is that throught this entire time, both before
purchasing and even after installing XP again (before attempting the third
and fourth installations) I have always run the Windows Vista Upgrade
Advisor, as well as several other web-based upgrade testers and EVERY SINGLE
ONE of them states that my computer more than meets the reccomendations set
for Vista. The WVUA even states that I have no hardware problems, or even
possible hardware problems.

I'm sorry this has become such a long message, but I'm getting desperate. I
just spent hundreds of dollars on something that's completely not working at
all. ANY help or suggestions would be VERY much appreciated. Thank you!

All you have to do is post your harware specifications for your computer here.
Otherwise, how can anyone tell you IF you can upgrade to Vista, lol.
