Vista installation failure

Newly built PC. Took out 2G ram as suggested - leaving 2G. Get through
black screen with white bar "Windows loading files". Then blue screen with
white horizontal bar for 35 minutes +/-. Then Install Now dialog box. Enter
key code. Checks off "Copying files" Begins the "Expanding files" and goes
to 11%.

Next message box: "Window cannot install required files. Make sure all
files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.
Error Cord: 0x8007045D. (Reviewing this error in the knowledge base does not
seem to speak to a new installation.)

I reviewed my MOBO instructions and I quote: "It is important to remember
that before installing the driver CD that is shipped in the kit, you need to
load you operating system." So what drivers does the Vista software think it
needs?

I spent more than 3 phone hours with Microsoft help and they had me putting
in my Win 98 disc made a royal mess of my situation. I'm back now to the
beginning and yet still no installation.

What am I doing wrong?

Since you don't say what motherboard or what type hard drive I can only offer
general ideas. You may need to install SATA drivers at the begining of the
install if Vista did not find your hard drive.

Thank you for your reply. I searched for STAT drivers and found that they
should be on the motherboard disk. I installed one, but that did not do the
trick, now I'm going to try again and do everyone on the disk under "Vista".

You wanted to know my motherboard information. The manual has:
Evga 123-YW-E175 nForce 750i SLI

This is supposed to be my son's project, but he's not so good with the
follow-through. If this next attempt does not work, we will take the
bloomin' thing apart and start from scratch to re-connect everything.

Before you disassemble, check the EVGA website for BIOS updates that may
address this. Mobos do not usually ship with the latest BIOS revision so
don't assume because you just got it that it is up to date. While you are
there review any details posted about the board, in particular any test
reports on your memory and in the configuration you are wanting to use.

too much and know far too little about this computer-putting-together thing!
