Vista Impression

Well, after spending a week deciding whether or not to install the Beta
(after reading about the problems most people seem to be experiencing you
can't blame me) , I'm very glad to say that I went ahead with it. To start
things off, that was the longest OS install I've ever done (took 1-2 hours),
though that may be because that was the first time I've installed an OS on a
laptop (coming back to a 5400rpm drive after using a 10k rpm 16mb drive is
quite a shock). To my surprise everything went without a hitch, including
driver installs (the upgrade advisor said about half of my peripherals didn't
have support, which it turns out it did). The interface is beautiful, silky
smooth, and everything runs fast. The only thing that I've noticed running
slower in Vista (compared to XP Pro) are games, but it's not such a huge hit
(and hopefully will improve with driver support). Overall, I'm very happy and
pleased (at the moment) to have ditched XP for Vista. Great job Microsoft,
keep up the great work!

PS: I'm no longer jealous of the Mac OS X interface (yes, it does some
things better, but at least MS is trying).
