What is the full name of the Vista group closest in purpose to this
one for XP? I can't find one on Google. (And if enter across all
groups a search term related to your specific issue, all you get is
porn sites???)

Thanks.

The Vista groups are found at microsoft.public.windows.vista.*

I suggest you use a news client, such as Forte Agent, Thunderbird, or even
Outlook Express, rather than Google Groups or Microsoft's clunky web
interface to the newsgroups. It's a lot easier to do nearly everything that
way. You can mark messages to be watched, filter the views so you can see
replies to your posts easily, and search. Google Groups is very useful for
searching historic posts but is not the best way to reach the live ones.

The Microsoft public news server is msnews.microsoft.com and you can
subscribe to as many groups as you like; no authentication is required.
