I am running Vista Home Premium and for about 3 months I have been getting
the below error message when going to some web-sites.

---------------------------
Error
---------------------------
A Runtime Error has occurred.
Do you wish to Debug?

Line: 184
Error: Object expected

In Internet Explorer, open Tools/Internet Options/Advanced Tab.

In the Browsing section, place a check mark in both of the 'Disable script
debugging' options.
Remove the check mark from the 'Display a notification about every script
error' option.

Apply/OK.

Restart IE.

Where are you seeing this, on a web page we know, but maybe give an
example URL so someone can visit and see which of these it is.

The error is possibly coming from a "Virtual Machine" - sometimes called
a "Runtime"... this is something like "Java" or Microsoft .NET framework
or maybe on a webpage from Javascript or Visual Basic script.

Sometimes IE will flag an error when it's not an important one, lots of
pages have them, you probably can turn off the display of error
messages, which is more of a diagnostic tool than anything else.

Ronnie,

Thanks. That worked. I would not have thought to go there. Is this part of
the IE7 Browser reset options?

Vista was expecting to be a real operating system. Unfortunately it is not
and cannot be one, no matter what object it expected.

Cheers.

Not a reset option, it simply hides any scripting errors and the debugging
options. The vast majority of these errors are server side errors and they
do not cause any problems when trying to view the website.
