Vista download and installation

I purchased a keycode for an upgrade from XP Pro to Vista, downloaded the 4
discs. I can run disc 1 (about 27% installation), then it asks for disc 2
but doesn't recognize it when I insert the disc. Vistau[g2 is the file name.
Any suggestions?

I sure second Troy's motion. It is well established that far and away the
most common cause of your scenario is a bad burn. I haven't worked with
four discs, but this seems to me to be a strange file name (Vistau[g2). What
source puts Vista on four discs? (Some MSDN option?) I think I did read on
this group about 4 CDs but I'm curious. If you're burning a DVD, there would
only need to be one. I know MSFT will be offering it to the public for
purchase and a download/burn.

1) Burn slowly. 4X should be fine. Some of this probably varies with the
DVD writer
and the media.

2) Make sure to select an ISO tab if there is one on the burning software,
and make sure to close the session on the burn.

3) Try this tweak on your Windows XP drive and burn from there:

Get to Dev Manager by typing devmgmt.msc in run/win key + pause break or
Rt.click My Computer>Prop>hardware tab>Device Manager if you like 5 steps
instead of one cmd. If you're set to PMI here change to DMO and if set to
DMO change to PMI using these 5 steps:

1) Click the + in front of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
2) Double Click the Secondary IDE Controller
3) Click Advanced Settings
4) Under Device 1 Next to Transfer Mode choose DMA (or vise versa)>Click
OK
5) Reboot your System

4) Also when you burn use the option in your burning software to check the
burn when you finish. There should be one, and maybe there is a CRC for
Vista RTM.

From where did you download it from. Was it a Microsoft site or another one? Most likely your download of Vista is corrupt.

The MSDN subscriber downloads website has Vista as either a single DVD image
or a 5 disk CD set for those without a DVD drive option.

I don't know where the OP got the "4disk" set, but it was not from MSDN,
unless they missed a disk? Also, the name they mentioned (Vistau[g2) is not
part of the MSDN file name?
