I got the blaster virus and ran the patch but before I
could reinstall norton and make sure all the updates were
in I also go another worm virus. I also found that I
have two trojan horse viruses. After talking to others
it may be best to just reformat my hard drive but I
cannot figure out where to do that in xp

Boot from the Windows CD and follow the prompts.

But I wouldn't recommend doing this without at least trying to
get rid of the viruses or trojans you have. Go to
www.symantec.com and get intructions on how to proceed there.

You don't do it from within XP. Instead use the XP setup CD. It is bootable
and capable of doing partition deletion, creation, formatting as well as
setting up XP. There is a document on the WinXP CD that explains the steps
for a "clean install." These steps are also included in the XP manual.

If your system was preinstalled and came with a specialized Recovery or
Restore program provided by the OEM, follow their directions for a
restoring the system to "factory state."
