There are many viruses that cannot be removed or that cause damage that
cannot be repaired without restoring your system from backup. If you do not
have a clean backup of your entire system partition you will have to perform
a clean install of Windows XP and all your software:
"Windows XP Clean Install (Interactive Setup)"

Once you have restored your computer you should read this:
"Protect Your PC"

Before you do a restore try a different antivirus(it's
free from microsofts update website the 1-2-3 steps to
protect your computer, step 3 gives you several free
options for antiviruses. The computer associates free for
a year works great.I had Norton and my lovely kids got me
6 trojan virus that Norton said couldn't access or
delete,I followed a group suggestion to try another AV
and glad I did.Computer Associates (EZ trust AV)found all
six and deleted them.I'm so happy with CA it tells me
that whatever file is infected and won't be loaded,Norton
used to tell me your infected and can't delete it.try
another av first before you restore.you can get it from
your windows update then fallow 1-2-3 steps step 3
computer associates or copy and paste this in your
address bar

you'll have to delete the Norton to load CA,but a lot
easier to do that than a restore, you'ld have to reload
Norton anyway. You'll need a E'mail address so they can
send you the pass code, and link to remove your old
Norton,Get it check for updates, and run it thru,it may
solve your problem and you'll never go back to Norton
again.I've tried Norton,McAfee, but CA so far has been the
best for us.It also comes with a free year of firewall(if
you had a firewall you may not of got the virus)FREE for
a year,give it a shot,you have nothing to lose.
