Iam running norton 2002. But I keep getting a Virus alert
message. Even after I have followed the instructions on
removal of this virus. I disable sys. restore, then
updated my virus defentions. restarted in safe mode, then
ran a full sys scan. The file came up I deleted them.
The I took the sys out of safe mode rebooted and the
virus alert still comes up.......HELP

Apparently, you're missing a step or the article in Symantec's online
reference area is missing a step.

If these directions are not getting rid of this, contact their technical

Is it possible that Tracy is getting re-infected from another computer
on their network?

Good point.

The info sheet on Downloader.Trojan is a little sketchy about how the
initial infection occurs. It only mentions that this trojan is mainly used as a
vehicle to feed more trojans to the infected system from malicious
websites. Since the source of this trojan isn't explained in detail, that
leaves the field wide open for where it's coming in at.

If a network is present, it's wise to yank the infected machine off of it
until you're sure the system is clean. Then reconnect to the network.
This avoids infecting the other networked computers. Also, if the
problem returns without any obvious steps by the user to cause that to
happen, that raises the possibility that another computer on the
network needs attention too.
