virus shuts down my computer

every so often, my computer screen goes black and then
reboots. This happens when on and off the internet. I
did the initial system restore to no avail. I have
downloaded patches and updates, but it shuts me down
during the updates. I have been to trend micro and
scanned for virus and it shuts down every time. I also
have Norton, and the same thing it shuts down every
time. Can sombody tell me what to do????

Mike,

I just experienced a number of random shutdowns (whether doing something or
not). This was after experiencing some increased fan noise. Here's what
worked for me:
- Shut system down, opened case and vacuumed out all the dust bunnies on the
fans and heatsink fan thoroughly. No problem since then and noise level back
down to normal. [Dirt was impairing the fan speed and I think some auto
sensors were shutting down to prevent damage.]

If the above doesn't work, I'd highly suspect a bad video driver. Try
replacing your video driver with the latest available and see if this works.

If all else fails, boot into Safe Mode and run Trend Micro and Symantec AV .
.. . their online version you run from their website.

try this, save all your files to your disket and then

format your computer or format your drive C&D.After you
format install new operating system such as windows
xp,2000,98,95 ect. remember, scan your files in disket
before you save it to your new operating system. thats all
I can suggest.

yo shut off your antivirus software, see if that works,

having same kind of problem, i keep downloading patches
but it still shuts down at any given time ,good luck.
