Hi

Can anyone advise me on the best Free online virus protection to download.
The reason that I am slightly dubious is that previously my husband paid for
some virus software online and it ended up corrupting our computer (bogus
site). Any safe site greatly received.

I use Grishoft's AVG Antivirus, Free Edition, on two of my computers. It
seems to work fine. There are several others, but I haven't used them. Here's

Never rely on any online versions of any anti-virus system. Several
viruses that I've seen had pushed the infected PC off the internet and
let viruses in. Always use locally installed anti-virus systems.

I've been quite happy with AVAST (http://www.avast.com/), and GriSoft's
AVG (http://www.grisoft.com/) is quite good, as well. Both have free
versions for personal use.

free antispyware programs (I suggest to get all of them):
Microsoft Defender
Spybot Search and Destroy
Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal
Grisoft AVG Free Anti-Spyware
Spyware Blaster

Hi Emma: I would suggest AVG Free 7.5 as your antivirus from( www.grisoft.com) simply because of ease of use, and it does an excellent job.
As for Antispyware I would suggest AVG Antispyware 7.5 from (www.grisoft.com ) A-Squared Free. There are quite a number of other free antispyware programs around, you might like to have a look at these sites.www.snapfiles.com www.freewarefiles.com www.freedownloadcenter.com just to name a few.
