virus infected file in windows now unaccessible

I contacted the welchia virus and now have a windows file
infected and locked up. I need to scan my windows program
(XP Home Edition) and fix it. Iknow to go to run
SFC /scannow to find any missing files to replace but it
says to install disk to fix. My XP came pre-installed.
How do I fix just what needs fixed with a pre-installed
program without doing a total recovery or restore?
