Virtual Memory too low

I

ilyaz

I have Windows XP Home which worked fine. However, recently quite often I'm
getting a message <Windows - Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low. Your system is
low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory
paging file. During this process, memory requests for some applications may
be denied...>
May someone tell me what's the problem? Why it was fine before and why it
happens now? What causes it? How to avoid it?
Thanks for your suggestions.

It may be a false message

If the message happens when you are using the computer then open
Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and look for an entry for the
Intel Application Accelerator. If it is listed then select it and
click on Add/Remove to uninstall it. Reboot the computer and your
problem should be resolved.

And if the Intel Application Accelerator was installed then you should
go to www.intel.com and download the latest version of the Intel
Application Accelerator and install it.

If the message happens at shutdown and only at shutdown then that
specific problem has been associated with the Live Update feature in
Norton Internet Security.

Symantec has posted a fix for this problem. Download the file
LRSETUP.EXE from http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/files/lu/lu.html and
run it.

Good luck

Ron,
thanks for your suggestion. The problem was REAL. Practically any
application was extremely slow and on a few occasions the system stalled. I
adjusted the pagefile and so far it looks good.
Thanks for you advice.
