View preference in Explorer won't stick & How to set a directory tree to same view option?

R

Rich

I have set (and reset) the view preference in my picture folders to
show thumbnails. However, this setting doesn't stick. At some time
later I find that the view has reverted to file listing with details.
I use the file listing with details for most other folders except the
control panel.

I have increased the number of folders that can be customized in the
registry to 8000 (I think, maybe it's only 4000) with no effect.

My other issue is that I would like to set a directory and all of its
subdirectories to the same view preference. I cannot seem to do this.
I must set each directory and subdirectory independently. Is there a
way I can accomplish this or is it just not an available action?

TIA, Rich

If you click on the Tools...Folder Options...View tab - does the "Apply to
all folders" button work? That'll keep your folder views the same throughout.

But, if you're then trying to set "thumbnails" on some of the folders - this
might hose the "Apply to all folders" setting. Haven't tried it myself tho'
- so this is just a suspicion on my part.
