view mht pages saved as thumbnails

Ranjan

In win 2000 there is an option in windows explorer to view the content of
the folder as web view, mean if I select the image or web page(saved as
*.mht) a small thumbnail is visible on the left with in the windows
explorer, this helps to see at a glance what page you are looking for.
This seems missing in XPpro for some reason or I cannot find it.

How to do the same in XP pro or is there any freeware utility which can show
my web pages (thousands of them) mht files as thumbnails showing the actual
content of the page.

Thanks

Ranjan,

Copy the following contents to a Notepad document, and save as
"mhtview.reg". Then right-click the .reg file and choose "Merge".

---------------------------------------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mht\shellex\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
@="{EAB841A0-9550-11CF-8C16-00805F1408F3}"

---------------------------------------------------------

For .HTM/.HTML files, see:

Thanks a lot Ramesh,
I did as per the instruction & merged the registery then rebooted the
comp...........But I see few thumbnails as actual content & the other mht
files still show as icons, dont know why part of the files are not showing.
Quite amazing that MS downgraded this feature from 2000 to XP pro, its a
useful feature to see at glance.

Any further clue as what is stopping now to show the thumbnails of the
content.

Hi Ranjan,

I don't know why the preview is not generated for some of the .mht files.
May be you can send me a copy of that particular file(s) to me email id if
you wish. I'll test them in my systems.
