Video in PPT - backward compatibility

I'm using PPT2003 SP2 to create a presentation that needs to be
viewable/editable in PPT 2000. I'm keeping it simple, so I've eliminated all
transitions and animations, but I have several 640x480 videos (in .WMV
format) that need to be inserted. They run fine in 2003, but they won't play
in 2000. (Audio files I've inserted work fine.)

What video format should I use that will be viewable in PPT 2000? I'll use
..AVI as a last resort, but those files are so huge they're virtually
unmanageable for distribution.

You might want to try using PFCMedia (a PowerPoint add in) that does all of
this automatically. You will want to use the "Legacy" option to make
certain it's backwards compatible. You can download a free trial version
from www.pfcmedia.com.
