Video file types...

I have so far found the WMM to be MUCH easier to use than the Pinnacle product I bought for the same purpose - and actually PAID FOR!! :)

I can get the video files into the storyboard, etc. and they are really cool when you add titles.

Now, the problem. How do I get the files onto a DVD that will be recognizable by a typical home DVD player? I am using Nero to burn the DVD but the players won't recognize the format. Is this because these movies don't have a "menu" that the players will recognize? Or is it something else..... I am using players that recognize the DVD-R media that I am burning to. Just need to know how to make it playable on home DVD players so that I can send it to the family and they can view it on something other than the computer.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello There,

Movie Maker can not create anything other than a Highmat video disk. These
disks can only be played on your computer at this time. There is a
suggestion that HighMat Video will be available on DVD players of the
future.

To create a DVD you need a DVD burner and authoring software. You need to
make sure that the burner you buy and your domestic player are
compatible...check +R/RW and -R/RW

How do you know the player will recognise the - disc you are using? When you
make your file in MM, do you save it as a dv-avi file, import this in to
nero and use it's ettings to burn the dvd? How long is the movie?

Thanks for the help Graham.

I already know the media types as -R that my players will recognize because they won't play anything burned on +R media. The media type is not the problem. Maybe the dv-avi file type is the issue. Don't know, and haven't tried that. Not sure if I can do this, but I'll try it.
So, the DVD players don't need a "menu" of some type to recognize the disc?

I've never made a dvd without a menu, so couldn't say 100%, but if you set
the vidseo as first play then it should just do that. Have you tried putting
a menu in?

You are choosing std dvd format from the nero choices, not mini dvd?
