Video driver now says not supported

I updated my video driver from the windows xp update site. Running Windows
XP Home with OEM GeForce 256 video card. After the drivers were installed
last week, I checked system properties and it said the drivers were signed.
Now when I check the driver under system properties, it says that the driver
is not signed?

I went to the hardware profile and checked the box that says always show
this profile when windows starts--this was not checked before--but the
driver still says it is unsigned in system properties. When I run the
direct x diagnostic (running DX 9b) it says that the driver is signed.
Which is correct?

I did not uninstall the original MS Video driver before I loaded the updated
Nvidia 52.16 driver--could this be the problem? Do I just uninstall the
Nvidia updated driver and then reinstall from the internet?

I do have a VIA chipset but have not yet loaded the updated 4 in 1 drivers.
Does the 52.16 require that the 4 in 1's be loaded? If yes, do I load them
before or after I reload the video driver?

The chipset drivers are always required. They provide the AGP slot drivers
so that Windows can correctly communicate with the AGP video card.

Are you experiencing a problem with your video? Sighing, in itself is not a
problem, that is just a matter of whether the Mfg. chose to pay MS to test
and endorse their product. I'm not sure about this but, I don't think any
Nvidia drivers are signed, mine aren't.

Whenever nVidia's web site has a driver with WHQL in the name for
downloading, the drivers are signed! There have been some drivers that were
signed for only a specific family of cards.

If I load the 4 in 1 drivers now, after I have already loaded the updated
Nvidia drivers, do I have to reinstall the video drivers too?

Also, my AGP drivers are already recognized. In System properties it says
that it is using VIA busmaster drivers. I just did not load the updated AGP
drivers from the VIA website yet since I was not sure that I needed to since
my PC is a MICRON and originally came with Windows 98SE. I did do a clean
install of XP though, I did not do an upgrade. In system properties it
lists some drivers as OEM. Also, I am running at 2X instead of 4X, but so
far my video seems to be working well. I was just concerned that the
drivers were not signed. I thought that MS would not put the drivers on
their site if they were not signed. It may be that since my card is so old,
the drivers are not signed for my older card, only the newer ones.

I appreciate your help. When I called MICRON about this they told me I
should not load the 4 in 1 drivers. But they also said that since I was now
running XP instead of Windows 98SE they would not support it, so I just was
not sure.

I have not had any trouble with my video yet. I just was not sure if I had
all the drivers loaded that I was suppose to have since MICRON will not
support XP since my system originally came with Windows 98SE. My system
does seem to be a little slow though.
