Very slow shell after installtion of SP2

Hello,

i have two computers both are running XP-Pro. Both are
using mostly the same software.
I update both to SP2 and one is running fine. The other
computer which is totally ok running without SP2 has
after the update the problem that it took around 10 minutes
to get the start-button after the login. After the start-button
is there every operation start a program or read the preferences
(right mouse button) will also take minutes. The taskmgr
didn't show any CPU consumption so the system is idle but
slow.
I deinstalled SP2 the system is return to fine status. I
reinstalled SP2 with removing some startup depend software like
virus-checker and other taskbar things no nothing change. The
system is with SP2 still unusable so i removed SP2 and everything
is fine.
In the eventlog i found only these both messages which a peers a couple
of times if i run sp2 (sorry for the german):

Go to Start / Run and type: services.msc and press OK.
Double click the "COM+ System Application Service".
In the Start Up Type menu, select "Automatic".
Click Apply / OK and exit the Services.
Reboot the computer.

In the Start Up Type menu, select "Automatic".
Click Apply / OK and exit the Services.
Reboot the computer.

I had a similar problem so I tried to change COM+ system application
Service's setting to Automatic. That worked without any problem. Then,
just for curiosity, I clicked on Start and tried to start it. I got a

Error 1027: This service could not be started

error. Any ideas what is wrong ?

Hello Ronnie,

i did what you recommended and installed the third time
SP2. But no difference the COM+ services are started now and
my system is sloooow so what are the next clue. I will be
ready to install the SP2 also the fourth time.
