Verifying your MWAS Definitions

MS has just published the following MSKB article:

I think they just updated this article with 5729 signatures info, but using
"plun's procedure" ;-) you can get 5731 from SpyNet now :)

Here is the "plun's way to get updated" :)

"Right click on MSAS icon within systray and choose shutdown.

Right click and "Save target as..."

http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcThreatAuditScanData.gcd

http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcThreatAuditThreatData.gcd

Copy/paste these files to Program files/Microsoft Antispyware

Restart MSAS and "check for updates"

Done until MS realize that this is a bug.............."

I still have the 5725 because file size of gdata is 2,513,196.
I'm so shocked, becase I had 5729 with latest 614 build and
now I have 5725. This program is HUGE BUGGED!!!!!

done an upgraded for the 100th time but file size is always
the same of 5725. I'm so shocked!

remember to active the realtime protection from context
menù becase for a known bug as you shutdown you also
disable the realtime protetion next time you execute the
program. Stupid bug that it could be corrected with 614 but
it's not done!

Well, I don't experience such problem on any of computers, where I have
installed MSAS..

No it is not huge bugged !

- Update issue is a ugly bug but otherwise MSAS really rocks.
Probably outclasses all other antispyware programs.

- Scheduling, no problem, just to do a manual scan perhaps once a week
beacuse of strong real time protection scans are not needed so often.

- Tracks Eraser, use CCleaner

Only small bugs with easy workarounds (except update bug) ?

Thank you Mikolaj.

I forget credits to "Taxman" for this, only a little modified :D

But what the heck is MS doing ? This is a great program
why dont they inform better ?

This is a security product with 20 million, beta or not, and
it is not MS Movie maker. ^^

If MS wants to use common MS culture also for security products
it will be a mess with a lot of rumours about MSAS.

signatures.. (as on the image)
On both my computers (Windwows XP Pro SP2+updates Polish and Windows Server
2003 Standard SP1+updates Polish).

Hi Mikolaj and Seagul

Seagul probably preformed an manual "Menu file - check for updates"
which
is not working beacuse of this ugly bug.

This IS working: (noticed that probably we have busy servers so maybe
several tries are needed)

"Right click on MSAS icon within systray and choose shutdown.
