Using Word 2002 and Outlook 2003

We own and use Office XP (2002). Our outside tech vendor had us update our
Outlook to 2003 so we can use their email washing tools. Now, Outlook 2003
won't let us use Word as our email editor. The option is greyed out and it
says to use Word 2003, which we don't have. Any thoughts in how to configure
Outlook 2003 to let us use Word 2002?

We are not ready to go to Office 2003 this year.

Thank you.

Please ignore this post - I have been told the versions must match!!!

Note to Microsoft - this should be addressed. The reason we were told to
migrate to Outlook 2003 was Outlook 2002 has issues - go figure!

Should have thought of that before you let them upgrade Outlook.
It is well known and well documented that versions must match to use Office
integration.

This has been true for all version of Office. But Microsoft is aware of this
and there will be changes in the next version that will overcome this issue.

Dear Russ:

Are you kidding me? You sit on your high horse and think you can post such a
statement? We are not in the technology business. We do not live and breath
technology, which seem apparently you do... a few thoughts for you - get a
life, get a hobby. Live with the real people. How were we supposed to "think"
of this before we upgraded our Outlook? Statements like this just make
Mircosoft look all the more out-of-touch with the real people.

I'm not on a high horse, nor do I fault you for not knowing that you would
disable all integration by mismatching your Outlook version.
However, this product was supplied to you by a vendor who should have known
what they were doing and given you that warning. There are countless posts
to that effect in this group and others. In addition, it seems that any
standalone version of Outlook should carry a clear warning that installing
it with a different version of Office will disable all integration features
so you can think twice about whether the upgrade will be worth it.

I read your post quickly and had missed part with all the insults. I find it
highly amusing.
