I have been using Magic Jack and was told that it tracks out Internet usage,
etc. Therefore, I wonder if Windows Firewall would protect my computer from
that. In checking my WF settings, Magic Jack WAS checked as an exception, so
I unchecked it; only 3 other programs were checked, though.

Can someone set me straight on this concern, please?

I use Avast, Ad-Aware, WF, and daily remove temp. files, and cookies, and
run AV scan daily, and Ad-Aware. I have HijackThis if I want to see what's
running, and check it about every 3 months.

Thank you.

Ask whomever told you that to provide proof.

Windows Firewall stops things from coming in, not going out.

I have never used Magic Jack, so cannot answer your concern with it.

Be advised, your reply to Tom appeared to be indented as part of his

Was the person who told you that wearing a tinfoil hat?

If it's packet sniffing, a firewall isn't going to help you.

MagicJack appears to be a VOIP product? If so, I'd think the only
"tracking" it's going to do is for the "free" phone calls you make.
Actually, you should probabluy uninstall it for the duration until you
find your problem. It might even be the source of the problem, which
you have allowed to be snipped from the posts and not replaced as the
thread went along.
