Using win 2000/Win 98 OS 2gether

I have a portable mp3 player (Audiovox MP-1000) that
only has software support for win 95/98 operating system
(OS) period. I used Win 98 OS on my old computer but now
on my new computer I am running win 2k OS. I tried to
download that MP3 software anyway on Win 2k but it
wouldn't work.
I want to know basically if it is okay to install win 98
on my new computer and have the choice of which OS to use
when booting up my computer. Will this corrupt any of my
files that run on Win 2k?
So my basic question is if you can have both Windows 98
OS and Windows 2k OS on the same computer can it operate
safely. Would I have the choice of choosing which OS to
use when I boot up my computer and if so will this harm
files I already have on my computer if I choose 0ne versus
the other. 98 will only be to load songs on my MP3

OK, here is the recipe:
1. Load Win98
2. Test Win98
3. Get a free copy of bootpart.exe from
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/gvollant/bootpart.htm
4. Do a clean boot (press F8 while booting).
5. Run this command:
bootpart winnt boot:C:
Your machine will not boot into Win2000.
6. Run this command:
bootpart win95 c:\win98.sys "Windows 98"
You will now have dual-booting capability.
