Using pictures on slide backgrounds

Christina

Hi,

Sometimes when I use the Format|Background|Fill
Effects|Picture to insert a picture as the background,
the picture seems to take on the color scheme of the
presentation rather than holding it's own color. Like
the picture will have a hazey blue or purple or whatever
color over it. I wonder if it has something to do with
whether the template being used uses a picture background
or a "drawn" background images. It doesn't happen on a
blank presentation, with no design template applied.
Also, omitting background graphics doesn't seem to fix
it. Does anyone understand what I mean and know why that
is? Thanks.

This sounds like a display driver issue. If you have a sample, I would like to
take a look at it on my system. All I need is one slide. So, you could open
the presentation, in Slide Sorter view delete all but one slide that
demonstrates the problem, and then save to a new name (so that you don't wipe
out the original). Then you can email the new file as an attachment to
sonia @ soniacoleman . com (without the spaces).

Christina,

I know exactly what you mean. I believe it's intentional on microsofts part.

From a microsoft posting
===
Except for
a few exceptions, the designs created by Microsoft are authored in a way
which allows the background to change color when the background color
scheme color is changed (such as when changing color schemes)
===

If you change the "background" color in the color scheme, the picture will change also. But not always. And you cannot
turn it on or Off.

To avoid this design feature.....put your background image on the slide master, then send it to the 'back'

Thanks for the reply. You may be right, since I can't
seem to duplicate the problem here, and it only happens to
me at another location where I teach. It will take me
awhile to get back over there, but I will
at some point and will send you a copy of the file.
Thanks again.
