using Fax on w2k

aa

On al the previous installations of w2k and Office2000 in Word I
automatically had an option to print to fax which allowed to fax a document.
I reinstalled w2k on one computer and this option gone. I cannot find any
traces of Fax in Control panel.
How do I get it back?

The fax services should be installable through the add/remove programs
applet in the control panel under the Windows setup portion. I
believe it is titled "Fax Services" or something similar.

There is nothing relevant to Fax in the add/remove programs window - could
you please see which option should I select fron there?
If it is relevant in the Administrative tools--Services I have Fax Servises
mentioned with automatic start up
Its status is shown as blank. An attempt to start it results in a message:

"Could not start Fax Servise on Local Computer.The service did not return an
error. This could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error.
If the problem persists constct Sys Admin".

What can be done?

It was likely an option of your modem software, which installs a fax
printer.
NB Uses a std phone line/ISDN
There is a MS Fax app, from recollection its available with MS Outlook and
may depend on the version/set up of OL
See win Help/Fax overview

Please check FaxService is installed in your machine. If not you can do this
from
Control Panel ->Add/Remove Windows Componets->
from the list select Fax and press Finished.
On successfull installation FaxService wll be listed in the SVC manager.
