UserProfile lockdown

Can anyone tell me what svchost.exe (900) is ? I keep getting an error msg in
the System Event viewer that says LoadUserProfile call failed, Details:
Incorrect function. Event ID: 7005, Source Service Control Manager. I have
UPHClean running and it tells me the hivelist has been remapped because
svchost.exe (900) has it locked down. The application Event viewer gives me
Event ID: 1500, source userenv. I'm using Windows XP SP2 w/all updates. I
have a wireless home network with only one other computer. Using Trend-Micro
PC-Cillin on host computer. Had Norton System Works/Firewall but uninstalled
it about 4 months ago. Have Ad-Aware and Xsoft Spyware programs and Pop-up
Stopper Professional. I suspect I'm getting this error from either something
wrong with my networking or maybe from some fragment of Norton System Works.
However, when I ping my network and client computer it shows connected, but I
cannot ping the host computer from the client computer. I can ping the DNS
and gateway from client computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

svchost is a process that launches other services, so unfortunately you can't
deduce anything from its presence.

IIRC there is a tool on Symantec's site to remove broken copies of
Systemworks. Worth a try.

Also worth checking with autoruns from sysinternals- it might give you some
clues as to what the process is.
