user rights for other database

there is other database in "manage database". It seems that we can't grant
user for specific database.

Is there a way to do it?

James:

You could put different passwords on different databases so only the one
person could access it.

Users need to create their own databases.

If you know Sql, it is possible for user A to create a database, and
then change ownership of that database to user B, but that is not a
feature of BCM.

Hi Lon

Where and how can I set password for different databases? The GUI don't have
the option.By the way, I am using BCM for Office 2003+sp4.

Can I do it by sqlcmd.exe?

Thanks

Hi, Lon

I think BCM only support windows logon account authentication. Can BCM use
sql user auth?

BCM only uses Windows Auth.

Therefore, either user creates database, or an admin needs to go into
a database's system tables and change the owner to the new user.

Hi, Luther

I know a little bit about MySQL, and new to MSSQL. Can you give me a little
more information on how to change database ownership to a new user?

The problem for me is how to let sales manage his/her own customer, instead
of all customer. It will avoide the risk when a sales goes to competitor's
company, and take all the sales information.

So at the same time, other problem is to transfer one account (all
information related to this customer) from one sales to other one.

Thanks and Regards
James

The way to have one user only have access to their set of customers is
to have each users have a private database on their machine. That's
the default BCM behavior.

To transfer an account from userA to userB, usersA would export the
account to a BCM file and send the file to userB. UserB would then
import the file.
