user.exe error message

I have been getting the following message intermittently:

Explorer has caused an error in the user.exe file. Try re-
starting your computer if you encounter this problem.

....or something to that effect.

I then just re-open an explorer window. The window opens
but it does not appear in the task bar.

It is relatively harmless but quite annoying because it
happens everytime I surf.

What do I do? Is there a patch that could solve this
problem? I am using IE 6. I tried downloading the newest
service pack but have been unable to.

HEEEEELLLLPPP!

I have been receiving the same problems. Very annoying
and I cannot find anything on Microsoft's web site to help
troubleshoot this problem.

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite)

Download, install, *update* and run one or both of these programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/

There are other possible causes for the USER.EXE errors.

Hope this helps,
