User account switching disabled & welcome screen missing tvt_gina.

I have a similar problem to Rob Kingston 3/4/2007 & boltop 1/28/07, but mine
is a new machine literally just out of the packaging! The message says, " a
recently installed program has disabled the welcome screen & fast user
switching. To restore these features, you must uninstall the program. The
following file name might help you identify the program that made the change:
tvt_gina.dll". All I've done so far is go through the manufacturer's (IBM)
security/registration process, attempt to register Windows XP (the wizard
failed), turn on automatic updates & install 'software distibution service
2.0', & attempt to update pre-installed symantec antivirus software (failed).
I ran system restore in case I had made any inadvertant changes but was told
no changes had been made. Any suggestions?

All those problems with a new out of the box computer, I suggest you contact
the computer tech support about it.
