Usenet Access

My only access to this group is via the web interface on
the MSDN site, and I'm sure I'm missing a lot of posts
through only really seeing the newest threads.
The IT dept won't allow usenet access, and my home ISP
doesn't carry it, and won't add new groups at the moment -
and won't add them unless requested by several people
anyway.
Does anyone know of a free - or cheap - usenet service
which allows posting and carries this group?

I have no idea how news groups are working.

But only thing you need to do is to create new news account in Outlook
Express, using news.microsoft.com.

So I don't see how your ISP is stopping you from accessing MS news server,
because you don't need you ISP news server.

There might be some firewall on your ISP, but why I don't know.

Someone other probably know allot more than I in this particular subject, I
was never interested in how NG protocols operate.

Sorry :(

Aha. The problem here was that I'm an idiot. I had no idea MS ran their
own free-access, no-password news feed.

Are you implying that news.microsoft.com is not MS server, or that you need
to pay to use it ?

No, I'm saying I didn't know it was there and allowed posting from
anyone.

Sorry, I though that this was irony not a straight response :)

I'm using it, and it is working ok. For all this time only two posting I
made didn't get trough, and this could easily be problem at my side.

Best regards,

Hi Heidi,

Yes, you can use news.microsoft.com from any ISP and post messages. That's
how I do it from my office.
