Use 'Find a Contact' to search GAL

My agency is starting to use the Active Directory as our internal Agency
Directory for all staff. We are using Outlook 2003 and it would be very
helpful if users could type a name in the "Find a Contact" box and use that
to search the Global Address List.

Instead what happens is that it searches the local Contacts first and if it
finds any matches it stops searching and never gets to the GAL.

Is there any way to make it search the GAL first?

Thanks,
- Jeff

Yes you need to change the setting that sets the order of search locations.
Click the Address Book icon in the toolbar, Tool, Options and that's where
you do it.

Thanks for responding, Judy, but actually that doesn't work. We do keep that
setting to Global Address List so that whenever you open the Address Book the
GAL is displayed first, but that does not effect the search order.

From Diane Poremsky (I got some help!):

I don't think so, not using the inplace Find. But is the gal set as the
first AB to search in AB's tools, options dialog? If it is and Find doesn't
find in the GAL - then it won't.
