USB print server and scanner?

Have ordered a 1 port USB print server so that I can print from wireless
enabled laptop without switching on main PC.
Question is can I also scan from laptop if scanner is connected to it
assuming scanner drivers are loaded on laptop?
Win XP Pro/SP2 and using 3Com wireless modem/router.

That's a big maybe. Problem 1 can be getting the scanner driver and
software to install.
I've had some luck on occasion by first installing the drivers and software
when a multifunction is connected directly via USB to the computer.
Then changing the port to the remote port setup for the print server.

Usually, NO you will not be able to use the scanner option. However, if the
print server and the printer/scanner are both from HP, then the answer is
"maybe?"

Print servers only provide a means of re-directing print requests to a network
port (wireless in your case.) They do not provide a "remote" USB port, which
the scanner part requires. However, HP has several printers/scanner that
"can" work with the print server devices and also gives your the scanning
options.
