I have a PC about 6yrs old running Windows XP Home which is up to date.
Although the USB ports are 2.0, I have thought they were not up to scratch,
so I purchased and installed a new PCB with 4 new ports. I am happy with
these.
However, when the system fires up, it does not always detect certain
hardware devices which are connected.
It will always detect a USB printer, which is always connected, and will
always detect "Memory Sticks" when connected.
But will NOT ALWAYS detect a Microsoft USB Mouse, or a USB Camera. In the
case of the camera, the Device Manager will report it as an unknown device.
All that is needed to correct the situation is to unplug and replug the
device, then all is well.
Why is this so?
