usb pci card on comp that already has usb; does it work?

Has anybody gotten this pci card to work well with XP sp2 and with a
computer that already had usb 2 ports and headers on the motherboard? I
heard that it was almost impossible to get a usb pci card to work with a
comp that already had some usb 2 ports. I added the card anyway and xp
installed it automatically, but my comp has been locking up since I put on
sp2. The thing is, I put the card in the day before I put sp2 on it the
comp, so I don't know what to think. I am fixing to take out this card and
see if I still get the locks up. There are no errors in Event Viewer when
the comp locks up.

I can't answer for the particular card in question but I can say that I have
added a Promise USB combo card to my computer that already had 6 USB 2.0
ports integral to the M/B. No problems at all.
