usb drives turns off and on after idle

I have a hard drive that uses an i/omagic ext. usb case, and if the
computer's been in idle, the hard drive shuts off and on repeatedly and I
can no longer access it. I just noticed it while I was watching a movie off
the drive. In my WindowsXP power save settings I have "never turn off hard
drives" but apparently this does not apply to usb hard drives... any ideas?

You could try looking in Device Manager at the USB Hub properties (Power
Management Tab) and make sure they are not set to turn off to save power.
