USB Device Not Recognized

Greg

My problem is XP won't recognize my camera when I plug it
in and nobody has been able to help me with this whether
it be Sony or Microsoft. I have a Sony Digital Video
Camera Recorder (DCR-TRV30) and I can't download pictures
to my computer no matter what I've tried. Maybe it's not
possible, I don't know. I get the message "USB Device Not
Recognized" when I plug in the camera. If someone could
help me with this I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I'm thinking the (DCR-TRV30) uses a memory stick
for still images? Maybe a USB memory stick reader
would be a good way to download your still images.

Well, Sony says it is compatible with XP, and that no drivers are
required. Is the camera in the correct mode when connected? It should
be in Memory mode when connected (user manual, p 141). Otherwise,
suspect the cable perhaps? Have you tried on another XP computer?

I suspect I have the same problem with my TRV30, but on Win2K. Anyone
else find that their USB devices are going hay wire after a recent
windows update.

I have a similar problem with my new JVC Digital cam-
corder only I am using Windows ME. The camera stores
still pics on a memory card. I have loaded all the
software but my PC (Gateway) doesn't see it. It asks for
drivers but won't give me the option to go to the disk to
get them. It wants to install some internal driver but
that doesn't work. When I force it to go read the disc,
it gives me the "required file NTKERN.VXD not found"....
What the hell is that? JVC tells me it is a 'windows'
problem. Can anyone help me?????
