Hi There !

I get the mentioned error no mather what kind of USB device i connect to the
PC, tried Front as well the USB ports in the back of the PC (the ones
directly on the motherboard), but I allways end up with the same error. Tried
to remote USB ports from device manager, and redetect them, but with no
result. Tried to disable the USB ports in BIOS, started Windows, shut Windows
Down, enabled USB in BIOS again, rebooted into windows, let windows find USB
ports again, but still the same problem. Tried to attach MS usb mouse, but
still the same error. The motherboard is a Asus M2N-MX (nforce based), with
all the current drivers, full windows update, latest BIOS ect.. Does anyone
have some good ideas that could solve this problem, without reinstalling the
PC ?

What does it say in Device Manager? Do you have yellow exclamation marks
against your USB hubs etc? If so, you may have to install USB drivers from
a CD that came with your motherboard.

Everything shows up OK in device manager, and there're no special USB drivers
for the board, except if you run old Win XP. The Windows XP running on the
system is a SP2, so the drivers should be included in the O/S. All chipset
drivers ect. are installed. When device manager detects a non recognized USB
device, that also shows up all-right without a exclamation mark :) - So it's
quite a odd problem.

Check in thr Universal Serial Bus controller section and 'uninstall"
the "unknoen" device entries. These do not place a yellow
excalmation mark when they show up.
