USB device not recognised by Plug and Play

An XP Home user on my laptop, I use a USB mouse and a USB camera connection
staisfactorily, however when I plug in my new sandisk MP3 player it is not
recognised other than "new hardware detected" message. It asks for a driver,
which shouldn't be neeeded.

Here are the pertinent system settings which may help (sorry about the

How are you connecting this player to the USB? I got this before and it was
because of a "bad" USB cable connection.
