usb and the files and settings transfer wizard

Hi,
I have an old laptop from which I wish to transfer thousands of photos onto
my new desktop. The laptop does not have a 9 pin serial port, but it does
have a 25 pin female printer port. it also has 2 USB ports.

My questions are:
1. Can I link the two PCs together using a USB cable and then use the Files
and Settings Transfer Wizard, or does the wizard not talk USB?
2. Do I have to use a special kind of USB cable with some circuitry housed
in the middle, or can I buy a USB cable with a male plug at each end?

Many thanks,

There is a product called PC Link, hardware and software for USB hi-speed
datatransfer.
I prefer a simple firewire connection going att 400mbit/sec. There is no
need for other hardware than a firewire cable between the 2 computers
