USB 4-port 2.0 hub problems

Me and the family have just gone out to the store, and i had bought for my
computer a 2.0 hub with 4 usb ports. However, when i plug my internet adapter
into this port, instead of running at 54mbps, it runs at 1.0mbps. The
computer still notifies me that the device could perform faster. Please help.

Hello Mike,

I had this very same problem, sometimes things don't like going through hubs.
In my case I bought a powered 4 port hub and it resolved the issue.

Actually, I am accessing this from Google Groups.

My own approach in interpreting responses is that in the absence of a
specific reference or quote, the response is to the original post. But,
that's just me. Also, if one uses "View as Tree" then one sees the
hierarchy of the posts. I grew up with a 64K(!) mainframe(!) (that's
64K for the OS and applications), so I still have the compulsion to
conserve resources :) But, never mind, I'll try to do as you suggest.

The computer requires a USB 2.0 port so as to get the USB 2.0 speeds. Check
in Device Manager and look under USB for an "enhanced" controller card. If
you see one, you have USB 2.0 ports.
